Features
Everything marked Available now works in v0.9.4.181 and you can prove it yourself in the free trial — 5 exports, no time limit, nothing disabled.
Export formats — all in one license
No format is an upsell. When land in v1.0, existing customers get them as a free update.
| Format | Status | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| GLB (.glb) | v0.9.4.181 Available now | The web standard. One binary file carrying geometry, materials and scene — drop it into any viewer. |
| glTF (.gltf + .bin) | v0.9.4.181 Available now | The readable variant. JSON scene plus a binary buffer — easy to inspect, edit and pipe through tooling. |
| HTML viewer (.html) | v0.9.4.181 Available now | A whole 3D page in one file. E-mail it to a client; it opens in any browser, no server, no plugin. |
| STL (.stl) | v0.9.4.181 Available now | 3D printing and inspection. Binary STL, read by every slicer and mesh tool on the planet. |
| OBJ (.obj + .mtl) | v0.9.4.181 Available now | The classic mesh interchange, with a material file alongside. Read by almost every DCC tool. |
| PLY (.ply) | v0.9.4.181 Available now | Mesh with per-vertex colour. The language of scanning, metrology and point-cloud tools. |
| 3MF (.3mf) | v0.9.4.181 Available now | The modern replacement for STL. Carries colour and — unlike STL — records its unit, so nothing imports at the wrong scale. |
| USDZ (.usdz) | v1.1 Planned — free update | Apple AR Quick Look. Tap a link on iPhone or iPad and place the real part on your desk. |
| FBX (.fbx) | v0.9.4.181 Available now | For game engines. Straight import into Unity and Unreal for interactive and real-time work. |
Batch conversion
Point Batch Export at an input folder and an output folder. It walks every.sldprt and .sldasm underneath and writes one file per model in the format you pick.
- Your open documents are protected: the batch never closes or saves a file you had open.
- A per-file log tells you exactly what converted, what was skipped and why.
- Included in the base license — not a separate tier, not an add-on.
Fidelity
Appearance hierarchy
Assembly component overrides → face → body → part, resolved exactly the way SOLIDWORKS displays them.
Metal detection
Appearances and engineering materials (“AISI 304”, brushed steel…) map to metallic PBR with sensible roughness.
Correct color
sRGB → linear conversion so colors match, transparency via alpha blend, double-sided surface bodies.
Geometry & size
- True instancing for assemblies — one mesh, N nodes — plus per-material primitives, so no draw-call explosion.
- Fine/standard tessellation, welded vertices, CCW-corrected winding, smooth normals.
- Center-at-origin option and part metadata (
asset.extras) for automatic labeling in web viewers.
Licensing that respects you
- One machine per license; moving to a new computer is self-service from your account page.
- Reinstalling SOLIDWORKS or GLB Expert re-activates automatically — no wasted seats, no support tickets.
- Works offline for 30 days between silent checks, with a friendly reminder after 7. Air-gapped machines use offline activation.
