What GLB Expert does not do

It exports. It does not import.

GLB Expert writes GLB, glTF, STL, OBJ, PLY, 3MF, FBX out of an open SOLIDWORKS part or assembly. It cannot read those files back in. If you need to bring a mesh intoSOLIDWORKS, this is not the tool.

It needs SOLIDWORKS. It is not a standalone converter.

GLB Expert is an add-in and runs inside SOLIDWORKS 2022 or newer. The command-line tool, glbx.exe, is not an exception: it drives your installed SOLIDWORKS rather than replacing it. On a machine without SOLIDWORKS, neither one works.

This is a deliberate trade, not an oversight. Reading SLDPRT/SLDASM through SOLIDWORKS itself is what makes the geometry, the assembly structure and the appearances match what you see on screen. See requirements.

No CAD interchange formats

We do not write STEP, IGES, Parasolid or any other exchange format that carries solid geometry. GLB Expert produces meshes, for viewing, sharing and downstream 3D tools. A mesh is not a solid model and cannot be turned back into one.

SOLIDWORKS already exports STEP and IGES, and does it well. Duplicating that would add nothing.

FBX carries no PBR

FBX 7.x has no physically based material model. When you export FBX, metallic is not carried, double-sidedness is not carried, and roughness passes through Shininess with loss. The geometry and the base colours arrive intact; the material realism does not.

If the materials matter, send GLB — it carries the full PBR set. FBX is there because Unity, Unreal, 3ds Max and Maya expect it.

One seat per licence

A licence activates one machine at a time. You can move the seat to another machine yourself from your account page — there is no waiting on support — but two people cannot export at the same time on one licence.

The trial is 5 exports, not a time window. It does not expire while you are still deciding.

The installer is not code-signed yet

Windows SmartScreen will warn you the first time you run it, and the publisher will show as unknown. Nothing is wrong with the download; we simply have not bought a code-signing certificate yet. We would rather tell you here than have you meet that dialog cold.

Download only from glbexpert.com. An unsigned installer picked up anywhere else is not one we can vouch for.
